We are not certain on the identification of this coral. In 2013 we took over maintenance of a large reef aquarium in Newtown, PA. There was a small rock in the bottom of the aquarium that looked like what hobbyist often call, “Christmas Tree Worm Rock”. (It had a very rounded appearance and clear evidence of the same number and size of polyps typically found on those rocks.) Sadly, the rock lacked any bright colors and matched the coloration of the rest of the live rock in the tank. After improving the health of the aquarium, it became clear this coral was not completely dead. We suspect the coral is a Porites, but we are not certain.
Like all the corals currently listed from TerraReef, this specimen is an aquacultured coral.
It is very important that you are aware of the care requirements of these corals before ordering. Please take some time to read some information from a few sources.
This item is a WYSIWYG item meaning the specimen you receive will be the exact one in the picture. Sometimes we include images of our mother colonies as well to give an idea of what the corals will grow into under proper care. Size is an approximation.
